Every car financing in Qatar is halal by construction; the four fully Islamic banks have no conventional book. So the comparison that matters is commercial: price, caps, speed, Takaful and exits. Each bank publishes a different fragment, and this article assembles them side by side from the banks' own pages, verified August 4, 2026. Where a number is missing, that is the bank's choice, and we say so.

QIB: convenience as the product
QIB sells process: upload the dealer's quotation in the mobile app, choose Auto Takaful, and share the generated purchase order with your dealer, no guarantor, no processing fees, approval possible on the first visit. Zero down payment for Qatari nationals up to QAR 2 million including profit is the standout published term; residents get 20% down and a QAR 400,000 ceiling. The missing piece is price: rates vary by the type of car you are buying and the finance plan you have selected, says the FAQ, which means the app flow's speed is also the speed at which you can accept an unbenchmarked quote. Bring QIIB's rate card to the showroom anyway. Full detail in our QIB vehicle review.
QIIB: the price you can verify
QIIB is the only Qatari bank publishing auto rates: 5.60% (Wajaha: QAR 50,000+ salary or QAR 1 million deposits), 5.70% (Deyafa: QAR 35,000+), 5.75% (World), 5.85% (others), fixed for the term, with printed worked examples per QAR 100,000: QAR 1,748 monthly over 72 months for Qataris, QAR 2,435 over 48 for expats. The expat package is the market's harshest: mandatory 40% down and a vehicle mortgage, used vehicles capped at 5 years old, insurance quoted at 2.4% for new vehicles only. Grace periods run 6 months for Qataris and 3 for expats. The Green Car product at 4.6% APR for new EVs and hybrids is the lowest published Islamic auto rate in Qatar. See the full QIIB review.
Dukhan: the caps you can plan around
Dukhan publishes the limits most banks hide: QAR 2 million over up to 6 years for Qataris, QAR 400,000 over up to 4 years for expats, minimum salary QAR 10,000 with salary transfer for both, financed vehicles at most 7 years old at maturity. Free life Takaful on the financed amount is a genuine cost edge: AlRayan's tariff prices Takaful at up to 1.281%, so Dukhan's bundle is worth real riyals on a large financing. The bank claims approval in under an hour with the dealer paperwork handled for you. What it does not publish is any rate, which leaves the single most important number to the branch. Review: Dukhan vehicle finance.
AlRayan: the formula and the exit
AlRayan prices car finance like a utility: QMRO + 1.50% per annum for salary-transfer customers earning QAR 10,000 to 34,999, + 1.25% above QAR 35,000, computing to 5.85% and 5.60% at the December 2025 benchmark. The tariff tells the rest: QAR 91.25 commodity fee per deal (the visible trace of the commodity Murabaha leg), free feasibility and documentation against salary, Takaful up to 1.281%, and the market's only published exit terms: 0% profit refund charge on early settlement through other banks, with late fees a QAR 100 charity donation. Non-salary customers are priced deal-by-deal. Trainees can access up to QAR 250,000 under the NextGen program at preferred rates. Review: AlRayan car finance.
One car, four counters: QAR 150,000 worked through
Put a QAR 150,000 sedan through each bank's published terms for a resident expat. QIIB: QAR 60,000 down (40%), then roughly QAR 2,192 per month for 48 months on the QAR 90,000 financed, per its printed per-100,000 example, with the vehicle mortgaged to the bank. QIB: QAR 30,000 down (20%), the QAR 120,000 balance priced in-branch on a term up to 72 months, no processing fee, no guarantor. Dukhan: down payment unpublished, up to 4 years, rate in-branch, free life Takaful, salary must move to Dukhan. AlRayan: computable 5.85% for a salary-transfer customer at QAR 10,000 to 34,999, terms unpublished, Takaful up to 1.281% added. The pattern repeats at every price point: QIIB gives certainty at a heavy deposit, QIB gives accessibility at an unknown price, Dukhan gives protection at an unknown price, AlRayan gives a computable rate with the limits unstated. Which trade wins depends on which number you cannot live without knowing.
Head-to-head verdicts
- Best published price, high earners: tie between QIIB Wajaha and AlRayan Premier at 5.60%; QIIB wins on certainty (fixed rate card), AlRayan on exits (free early settlement).
- Best for new EV/hybrid buyers: QIIB Green Car at 4.6% APR, unchallenged among published rates.
- Best for Qatari buyers with no deposit: QIB's zero-down tier, price-checked against QIIB's card.
- Best bundled protection: Dukhan's free life Takaful, worth roughly a point of cost against AlRayan's tariff.
- Best for expats: least-bad depends on your constraint; QIB's 20% down beats QIIB's 40%, but QIIB's published pricing beats QIB's opacity. Get both quotes.
- Best disclosure overall: QIIB by a distance, and it deserves the reward of being every buyer's first quote.

Frequently asked questions
Why do the caps differ so much between Qataris and expats?
The identical QAR 2 million / QAR 400,000 pair published at QIB and Dukhan tracks the regulatory framework Qatar Central Bank applies by borrower class, the same architecture that tiers home financing at 80%/75%. Banks do not publish the underlying circulars, but the pattern across all published terms is consistent. Our QCB caps explainer covers the framework.
Which bank approves fastest?
By published claims: Dukhan says under an hour for vehicle finance; QIB says approval is possible on your first visit and runs a fully digital dealer-quotation flow in its app; QIIB and AlRayan publish no speed claims. Treat all speed claims as marketing until your documents are complete; every bank's clock starts there.

Do any banks finance motorcycles or commercial vehicles?
No Qatari Islamic bank publishes a retail motorcycle or commercial vehicle financing product as of August 4, 2026. QIB's vehicle pages say any vehicle, new or used, without addressing two-wheelers; business fleets sit in SME banking (QIB's Aamaly program lists fleet and heavy equipment financing for companies). If you need either, ask the bank directly; the published retail shelf does not cover it.
